NEWS RELEASE: OTS Awards $80,000 Grant to the Turlock Police Department for Traffic Enforcement Program to Increase Safety on Roads
Turlock Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. The grant program runs through September 2025.

NEWS RELEASE: Arrest Made on Bank Robbery with Bomb Threat
On Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at approximately 1:38 P.M., Turlock Police Dispatch received a 911 call advising that a bank robbery had just occurred at the US Bank, located at 427 E. Olive Ave. The caller reported that a male subject entered the bank with a briefcase and told a bank employee there was an explosive device in the briefcase. The subject then demanded money and claimed he had the ability to detonate the device. The subject left the business with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving the briefcase inside the bank. He then fled the area in a white Lexus.

NEWS RELEASE: Turlock Police Investigate Fatal Shooting, Suspect Arrested Using License Plate Reader Technology
Turlock, CA – During the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Turlock Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a man had just been shot in the 1800 block of Lander Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene and found Jose Tamayo-Morales, 18, of Modesto, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. An officer began performing CPR, but despite lifesaving efforts, Jose was pronounced dead at the scene.

NEWS RELEASE: Road Rage Leads to Fatal Stabbing; Suspect Arrested Within Hours
Turlock, CA – On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Turlock Police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West Monte Vista Avenue in response to a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, 49-year-old Enrique Gomez from Turlock, on the ground and began administering first aid. Despite their efforts, and those of Turlock Fire and Patterson District Ambulance, Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
